Little Capitals Reorganize Leadership Structure2010-03-10
Tim Graham to take over hockey operations for Little Caps and work in conjunction with Brian St. Louis to improve skill development and coaching development within the organization.
The Washington Little Capitals would like to announce a reorganization of leadership for the 2010-11 season. This reorganization will begin immediately and will involve shuffling of duties for three people already involved with the Little Capitals.
Tim Graham will become the WLC’s Director of Coaching & Programs. In this capacity Graham will take over the daily responsibilities of running the Little Capitals hockey program, oversee the WLC coaching staff and monitor the teams, and have a regular presence at KCI for Little Caps games and practices.
Graham will also begin teaching skill sessions for each WLC team during their regular practice template and he will be in charge of setting up future programs to benefit WLC players.
Coach Graham has been with the Little Capitals coaching staff for the past three years and his teams have enjoyed a great deal of success on the ice. His energy and abilities, regarding skill development and setting up a comprehensive coaching program, will improve the Little Capitals experience for both the players and coaches. Many of Graham’s duties will be done in conjunction with Brian St. Louis, who will retain title of Hockey Director but have his duties expanded.
St. Louis, spent the past six years coaching in the Washington Junior Nationals College Development Program, will join Graham in a supervisory capacity while also serving as a head coach of a Little Caps team. St. Louis will complement Coach Graham on the ice with WLC teams to teach skill development, in addition to setting up WLC tryouts each spring, serving as the WLC ACE Coordinator for USA Hockey Coaching Education Program and handling all WLC equipment needs.
Jeff Nygaard will remain as co-owner of the Little Caps franchise and executive director of the organization. His duties will shift primarily to administrative duties and ensuring the non-profit corporation is operating well.
“Having Tim and Brian take over the day-to-day duties of the Little Capitals is something that we’ve been trying to accomplish for a while,” said Nygaard. “We’re re-committing to skill development and pouring our resources into the youth hockey player who would like to experience Tier I hockey. These two will definitely take the Little Capitals up a notch in terms of skill level and competitiveness.”
